About This Service
A Level 2 charger runs on a 240-volt circuit, the same kind that feeds a dryer or a stove, and can fully charge most electric vehicles overnight. The portable cord many cars come with plugs into a regular 120-volt outlet and adds only about 5 to 8 kilometres of range per hour, too slow for most daily drivers. We install Level 2 chargers for Tesla, GM, Ford, Hyundai, BMW and every other major brand, hardwired or plug-in, in the garage or outside by the driveway.
The charger is the easy part. The real work is the circuit behind it: usually a dedicated 40- or 50-amp circuit from your panel, sized and protected correctly, carrying a large, steady load for hours at a time. That is why every installation starts with a look at your panel. Many newer homes in Milton, Upper Stoney Creek and Grimsby were built without a garage circuit for a charger, and older homes on 100-amp service may need an upgrade first. The permit and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) inspection are included.
