Pot light layouts are planned for the room, with spacing, colour temperature and dimming chosen before the first hole is cut, so you get even light without dark spots or harsh overlaps.
Renovation electrical is where code matters most. Opening walls in an older Hamilton home often turns up knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring that has to be dealt with, and new work has to meet today's rules: arc-fault protection in living areas, ground-fault (GFCI) protection near sinks and tamper-resistant receptacles. Most renovation electrical work needs a permit. We take it out, coordinate the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) inspection and patch neatly around new fixtures when the work is done.

Usually because the dimmer was designed for incandescent bulbs. Older dimmers can make LEDs flicker, buzz or dim over only a short range. A dimmer rated for LED loads and matched to the fixtures normally fixes it.
Yes, with the right fixture. Under an insulated ceiling, such as a top floor or a cathedral ceiling, pot lights must be IC-rated, meaning rated for contact with insulation. A fixture without that rating needs clearance from the insulation, and using one where it cannot have that clearance is a fire hazard and a code violation.
Usually more circuits than the old kitchen had. Receptacles near the sink need GFCI protection, major appliances often need their own circuits, and new lighting such as pot lights and under-cabinet strips is wired in at the same stage. The work needs an ESA permit, and in an older home, opening the walls can reveal wiring that must be updated first.
