About Briggs and Stratton
Briggs and Stratton's home standby listing shows 13 generators in four lines, PowerProtect, PowerProtect DX, PowerProtect+ and PowerProtect+ DX, from 13 to 26 kW. Each one runs on natural gas or liquid propane and works through a transfer switch. The family pages below give the figures Briggs and Stratton publishes for each model and link to the spec sheets on its product literature page.
In Hamilton and Niagara, the gas side of a standby installation belongs to a licensed gas fitter, who checks that the meter and the piping can carry the generator's load. The transfer switch keeps the unit from sending power back onto the utility's wires while the grid is down. Connecting a generator permanently to a house means filing a notification of work with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), which recommends that a licensed electrical contractor carry out the installation.
Briggs and Stratton's dealer locator lists Remarkable Electric as: Sales and Service. Checked 2026-09-25.
