The Bottom Line

If you drive a fully electric vehicle (not a plug-in hybrid) and use it daily, Level 2 is the clear winner. You will wake up to a full battery every morning instead of scrambling for charge. The installation pays for itself in convenience within weeks.

Common Questions

Can I use a regular outlet to charge my EV?
Yes. Level 1 charging uses a standard 120V household outlet (NEMA 5-15). Every EV comes with a Level 1 charging cord. However, it only adds about 5-8 km of range per hour, so a full charge can take 40-60 hours for most EVs. For daily drivers, Level 2 is strongly recommended.
How much does a Level 2 charger installation cost?
In Hamilton and the Niagara region, a Level 2 EV charger installation typically costs $1,500 to $2,500. This includes the dedicated 240V circuit, charger mounting, wiring, ESA permit, and inspection. The exact price depends on the distance from your panel to the charger location.
Do I need a panel upgrade for a Level 2 charger?
It depends on your current panel capacity. A Level 2 charger requires a dedicated 40A or 50A circuit. If your panel is already near capacity (common with 100A panels), you may need an upgrade to 200A first. We assess this during your free estimate.
Which Level 2 charger brands do you install?
We install all major brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Grizzl-E, Emporia, and FLO. We also install the charger that came with your vehicle if it includes a Level 2 unit. We are brand-agnostic and help you pick the right charger for your needs.
